Westwood Lake in Nanaimo closed to swimming

Nanaimo’s Westwood Lake is closed to swimming until further notice because the E. coli count continues to exceed the allowable limit.

Nanaimo’s Westwood Lake is closed to swimming until further notice because the E. coli count continues to exceed the allowable limit.

“It is important that we keep swimmers safe, so until the levels drop to an allowable limit, we encourage the community to use alternative water recreation areas such as the water parks and the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre,” said Damon Johnston, the assistant aquatics manager for the city.

The park is open for walking and hiking.

Water testing will continue on a regular basis.
