West Shore RCMP’s fledgling bait-bike program has nabbed another unwitting suspect, this time a 58-year-old man.
The man was caught March 25 when he hopped on the detachment’s specially equipped bait bike. His actions triggered a silent alarm that allowed the Bike Patrol Unit to track him.
The program has led to two arrests in its first few months. The bait bike is placed in areas where thefts have been an issue.
Police said bikes are common targets for theft and are hard to locate once they’ve been stolen. Always lock your bike and store it indoors if possible, they said.
