Police issued their appeal after numerous social-media posts that have made threatening comments about the suspect.

The dog was taken from a residence during a break-and-enter shortly before officers were called about the dog’s death outside the Bellside Court apartments in the 1300-block of Hillside Avenue.

They arrived to find a tenant had barricaded himself in his suite. He stayed there for three hours until police deployed an Arwen, a non-lethal bean-bag gun.

The tenant was arrested and taken for both physical- and mental-health assessment.
