Saanich police arrested two suspects Tuesday morning after a witness saw two people walk away from a car that hit a concrete pillar at Uptown. The car later turned out to be stolen.
The witness saw the car hit the pillar about 8:30 a.m. and drive away before two people got out and left the area.
Officers arrived and a member of the bike-patrol unit spotted the suspects walking along the Galloping Goose Trail. One was arrested on the trail by the bike officer and the other was nabbed by a waiting officer after crossing the Trans-Canada Highway at Regina Park.
The car was reported stolen out of Langford at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
