Three buses destroyed in suspicious fire in Duncan

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are asking the public for information after a suspicious fire destroyed three buses and extensively damaged two others at the Mid Island Bus lot on Friday. There were 10 buses at the Tzouhalem Road site in Duncan.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are asking the public for information after a suspicious fire destroyed three buses and extensively damaged two others at the Mid  Island Bus lot on Friday.

There were 10 buses at the Tzouhalem Road site in Duncan.

Police were called about 4 a.m. after a report that a number of buses were ablaze.

The North Cowichan Fire Department arrived to extinguish the flames.

“We’re still trying to figure what happened,” a Mid Island Bus worker said. “We’re still trying to line up alternate busing and everything else.”

The company serves area private schools and offers its services for outings such as company events, winery tours and weddings.

Police called the fire suspicious and said investigation into its cause is ongoing.
