Three men have been arrested and hundreds of illicit pills have been seized after a sting on a drug operation near a Langford elementary school.

Three men have been arrested and hundreds of illicit pills have been seized after a sting on a drug operation near a Langford elementary school.

On Friday, West Shore RCMP’s crime reduction unit raided a home in the2700-block of Jacklin Road across from Ruth King Elementary. Officers seized illicit drugs, including 600 pills and more than $26,000 in cash.

Mounties arrested a 32-year-old Saanich man, along with 41-year-old Edgar Acevedo and 37-year-old Erickson Delalcazar, both from Langford. The Saanich man’s name has not been released yet.

“The close proximity of the school where the drugs were seized from is quite concerning,” said West Shore RCMP spokesman Const. Alex Bérubé. “This is why we are seeking the assistance of the community with regards to information on drug trafficking or any other criminal activity in the West Shore.”

Bérubé said it’s too early to say if the pills were fentanyl until the substance is tested at a lab.

The Saanich man was released on a promise to appear in court.

Delalcazar and Acevedo were remanded in custody until an appearance in Western Communities Court today. The two are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Anyone with information on the drug operation is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
