A 15-year-old Port Alberni cyclist is dead after he was struck by a cube van.
Port Alberni RCMP and B.C. Ambulance paramedics were called to the intersection of Dunbar Street and 10th Avenue about 6:22 p.m. Friday after the cyclist and vehicle collided.
The cyclist was seriously injured and taken to hospital. He died of his injuries on Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is co-operating with police.
Port Alberni RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are continuing their investigation. Police did not give details on how the crash occurred. The teen’s name was not released.
