Victoria police have disposed of a suspicious package filled with unpleasant items that appears to have been meant for City of Victoria staff.

Police and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team responded Tuesday afternoon to reports of a suspicious package in Victoria West Park, on Wilson Street.

The package, which was determined to be inert, contained propane bottles and a large bottle of liquid that was found to be bodily fluids, police said. The package also contained a note targeting the city’s bylaw enforcement staff.

According to police, a person sheltering in the park was annoyed when required to move and left the package behind.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Last week, officers found weapons and ammunition in an unoccupied tent in the park.

Officers were assisting bylaw staff in the morning on March 11 when the items were found. Located were two replica firearms, a knife and ammunition that included .308-calibre rounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Victoria police at 250-995-7654, extension 1, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
