Hundreds of demonstrators in support of Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs blocked the Johnson Street Bridge on Monday evening for the second time in three days. They also blocked the Bay Street Bridge.

Both bridges were cleared by 7 p.m., Victoria police said.

On Saturday, hundreds sat down on the Johnson Street Bridge for four hours, blocking traffic in both directions.

Several hundred people gathered for a rally at the legislature Monday afternoon before marching on downtown streets to the bridge.

Addressing the crowd at the legislature, Kolin Sutherland-Wilson said the group is showing government that they have the power to shut Canada down.

Another rally is planned for Tuesday, when B.C.’s lieutenant-governor is expected to arrive at the legislature to give the speech from the throne.
