A Victoria police canine officer figured something was up when she saw a vehicle circling a James Bay neighbourhood about 2 a.m. with its headlights off.
The officer, in an unmarked car with her dog, was checking the area early Monday because a number of break-ins had taken place there. She pulled the vehicle over on Battery Street and was soon joined by other officers.
A search of the vehicle turned up two replica handguns equipped to shoot BBs, brass knuckles, a baseball bat and a quantity of methamphetamine.
All four occupants were arrested.
Two charges of both possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a controlled substance have been laid against 20-year-old Chantelle MacLeod of Victoria, 35-year-old Fiona Gannon of Langford, 25-year-old Steven Middleton of Victoria and 25-year-old Jordan Moreland of Victoria.
Moreland has also been charge with two counts of breaching conditions imposed on him by the courts.
