The search continued Tuesday for a Victoria woman and a fishing guide whose boat capsized on the Bella Coola River on Aug. 10.

The body of Cameron Murdoch, 42, was found downstream of Walker Island. His wife, Andrea Murdoch (nee Newsted), 51, is missing and presumed dead. The couple had travelled to Bella Coola to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. They hired a boat for a four-hour fishing trip. The guide, a 65-year-old man from Sorrento, is also presumed dead.

The boat was last seen at the confluence of the Salloompt and Bella Coola rivers, where they had stopped to fish.

The boat was later spotted adrift without occupants near Walker Island.

Bella Coola RCMP and local search parties from Campbell River, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House and other areas continued their search throughout the week. The search efforts have been greatly assisted by the participation and indispensable local knowledge of the Nuxalk Coastal Guardian Watchmen, the RCMP said.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased and we continue to offer our support to all three families during this traumatic time and as we search for the missing two individuals, said Staff Sergeant John Grierson.

The RCMP West Coast Marine Services continued search efforts this past weekend with the continued assistance of the Nuxalk Coastal Guardian Watchmen.
