Saanich police are investigating a report of a sexual assault early Saturday in Rudd Park, located off Irma Street.
Police said the victim was accosted by a male about 1 a.m. but was able to scare him off. He is described as about five-foot-eight and was riding a black bike.
The public is urged “to be aware of their surroundings and stay safe,” police said.
The Saanich incident happened about the same time as a sexual assault on Ellery Street in Esquimalt. A woman was assaulted in her apartment by a stranger who had a weapon.
The woman was able to flee and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
