Saanich police are investigating several cases of suspected arson after four fires were discovered in little over 24 hours.

Shortly before midnight on Monday, a small fire was set next to a dumpster in the 3200-block of Douglas Street. A second fire inside a dumpster was found nearby 10 minutes later, in the 700-block of Tolmie Avenue.

On Tuesday afternoon, a fire was set inside a grease bin in the 3100-block of Tillicum Road, and a dumpster was set on fire at Colquitz Middle School on Dumeresq Street early Wednesday.

Police said there was no damage beyond the bins themselves, but warned the fires could have easily spread to nearby structures due to the hot, dry weather.

Saanich police are encouraging the public to immediately report any fires by calling 911.

Officers are investigating the four fires and ask anyone with information to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321.
