Saanich police asking public for dash cam video in assault investigation

A man was seriously hurt in an assault early Friday morning and Saanich police are appealing to the public for dash cam video from areas where they are investigating.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, police were informed of an injured male in need of medical attention in the 200-block of the Trans-Canada Highway. Police said the assault involved a weapon and the man suffered serious injuries.

They’ve asked for anyone in the area between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. to contact police, and are now broadening the appeal.

Saanich police are asking anyone with dash cam footage during the following periods to call them:

• Thursday between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Tillicum Road between Tillicum Mall and Highway 1

• Thursday between 10 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. on Burnside Road/Interurban Road between Tillicum Mall and Colquitz Middle School

• Friday between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Highway 1 between McKenzie Avenue and Saanich Road
