Victoria police found a pair of replica firearms early Monday after responding to a call about a man with a gun.

Officers responded to a temporary residential housing facility in the 3000-block Blanshard Street about 2 a.m. following a report that an armed man was outside the complex.

He was arrested without incident.

A search of the man did not turn up a firearm, but police found the two replicas while searching the general area. No one claimed ownership of the replicas and they were seized for destruction.

The man was released without charge.

Police said there was in increase in calls related to both real and replica firearms last year, and replicas are treated as real until it is determined otherwise.
