Public input sought on design of new skatepark and bike skills park in Topaz Park

The City of Victoria is inviting feedback from the public, in the form of an online survey, on the design proposal of a new skateboard park and bike skills park in Topaz Park.

The city has set up a web page that includes the proposed design and an opportunity to provide feedback.

“Victoria is an all-wheels city and these skate and bike parks are hotly anticipated additions to Topaz Park,” said Mayor Lisa Helps. “If you’re planning on getting out to enjoy these new amenities, this is a great opportunity to have your voice heard.”

The project is part of the first phase of a long-term renovation of Topaz Park first adopted by the council in 2018. Council approved the skate and bike path projects in January 2020.

The design of the 3,000-square-metre skate park and 6,000-square-metre bike park were developed through consultations with local experts and cycling enthusiasts.

The project is being led by New Line Skateparks, a municipal skatepark design and construction company.

Construction is expected to begin in the fall and be complete by next summer. Feedback is invited by June 25 at victoria.ca.
