The driver of pickup truck that struck a tree in the 5600 block of Kitsukis Road in Port Alberni on Monday has died.
RCMP were alerted to the crash about 5:45 a.m., but are trying to determine when it occurred.
The driver, a 28-year-old man from Port Alberni, was the only person in the truck. His dog was seriously injured and taken to a veterinarian.
Port Alberni RCMP ask anyone who saw the green 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe prior to the collision to call them at 250-723-2424.
