Officers responded to a call about an altercation on the Lochside Trail involving a man with a weapon about 11 a.m. May 20.

They arrived to find a man on a wooden bridge on the trail, between Saanich Road and Quadra Street. The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. said a police dog used to help in the arrest bit the man, who was then taken to hospital for treatment.
