Police in the capital region are reminding motorists that today’s rain showers mean slick roads.
Police are adivsing roads that have collected oil and other materials during a long dry period can become slick when first wet.
“Please take extra time, follow the speed limits and leave extra distance with the car in front of you,” Victoria police tweeted this morning.
The Transportation Ministry says with significant rainfall expected on the south coast today: “Remember that road surfaces are especially slippery during the first rainfall after a dry spell. Please allow for increased stopping distance on wet roads.”
Environment Canada is forecasting a few showers ending late this afternoon then cloudy with 30 per cent chance of showers.
The high today is forecast to be 21 C and 17 C near the water. Tonight is forecast to be mainly cloudy with 30 per cent chance of showers.
