Victoria police are looking for witnesses after someone attempted to dig up and remove a statue of St. Francis in an Anglican church on Esquimalt Road on Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the church in the 1300-block of Esquimalt Road at 3 p.m. July 3 after a report of damage to the church. The weight of the statue prevented its removal, police said.
