Comox Valley RCMP have released a surveillance photo of a suspect in an attempted robbery on Sunday in hopes someone can help identify him.

Police responded to an alarm at a business on Ryan Road in Courtenay about 11:35 p.m. The woman working in the store at the time told officers that a man entered and walked around briefly before approaching the counter, saying he had a knife and demanding money.

When the woman asked for help from others in the store, the suspect fled.

“There were several witnesses inside the store at the time this occurred and we would like to hear from them,” said Const. Monika Terragni. “They might not even be aware of exactly what happened.”

Police are also asking anyone who was in the area to check dashcam footage and/or surveillance footage that may have captured the suspect before or after the attempted robbery.

Call Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) with any information, or go to comoxvalleycrimestoppers.bc.ca.
