Police search for thief who stole jet ski from Fisherman's Wharf

Victoria police are asking for the public’s help as they search for a man who stole and then abandoned a jet ski early Wednesday. According to police, a man was seen paddling a jet ski near the 200 block of Russell Street around 1:45 a.m.

Victoria police are asking for the public’s help as they search for a man who stole and then abandoned a jet ski early Wednesday.

According to police, a man was seen paddling a jet ski near the 200 block of Russell Street around 1:45 a.m. The man, described as white, between 30 and 40, and about five-foot-10 with a medium build, left the jet ski in the water and fled. He was dressed in black and was wearing a black ball cap.

The jet ski, valued at about $20,000, had been tied up at Fisherman’s Wharf. The owners have recovered the machine.

Victoria police reminded boaters, sailors and anyone docking watercraft around the Inner Harbour to secure their vessels after a rash of recent marine thefts.
