Victoria police used pepper spray and rubber bullets to subdue a man who kicked in the doors of St. Andrew’s Cathedral Parish Centre and rectory on Wednesday.
The man appeared to be suffering a mental-health crisis and was causing a disturbance in the 700 block of View Street when police received a 911 call.
Victoria police officers located the man, who they said had armed himself with an improvised weapon. He was taken into custody after police used pepper spray and less-lethal munitions.
He was transported to hospital for a mental-health evaluation and decontamination from pepper spray, police said.
This incident is under investigation.
