Patients relocated after mattress fire at Cowichan hospital

A mattress fire at Cowichan District Hospital Tuesday afternoon did not cause any injuries but led to about a dozen patients being temporarily relocated from the fourth floor. All were back in their rooms as of Wednesday morning.

A mattress fire at Cowichan District Hospital Tuesday afternoon did not cause any injuries but led to about a dozen patients being temporarily relocated from the fourth floor.

All were back in their rooms as of Wednesday morning.

The patients had to be moved while the fourth floor was cleaned and aired out.

The mattress was thrown out a window and the fire quickly extinguished.

No cause has been determined.
