A 32-year-old Parksville man is dead following a suspected hit- and-run early Saturday.
Oceanside RCMP said they were contacted at 2:40 a.m. by a driver who discovered the body in the middle of the road on Hirst Avenue at McMillan Street in Parksville.
Police say it appears the man was struck by a vehicle and the driver fled the scene.
Several witnesses from nearby apartments reported hearing a loud crash and a thump shortly before police received the call.
RCMP called in a collision reconstructionist to aid in the investigation.
Police are gathering evidence and looking for a possible suspect.
