One man was killed and another seriously injured when a pickup left the highway near Campbell River Saturday.
CHEK TV reported the RCMP saying the pickup was eastbound on Highway 28 from Gold River at 7 a.m. when it went through a sharp curve left the roadway and went down a steep embankment. The mishap occurred about 20 kilometres west of Campbell River.
One man in his 30s was killed. The other 42-year-old man managed to get back to the roadway, although it took one hour 45 minutes, and flag down a passing motorist.
He was flown to hospital in Victoria with injuries described as serious, possibly life threatening.
Police continue to investigate.
