One person is dead after a fire in Victoria early this morning.
At 1:25 a.m., Victoria firefighters responded to a blaze in a third-floor suite at Cubbon Apartments, 1035 North Park.
Two people were rescued from the balconies and one person and a dog were found dead.
Crews fought the blaze from the Balmoral and North Park sides of the building and managed to contain the fire to the suite, but smoke damage spread to three nearby units and the hallway.
Emergency social services were called in to care for three displaced occupants.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The damage to the structure is estimated at about $300,000.
