An Oak Bay officer is facing a disciplinary investigation in relation to a June 1 incident in Saanich.

Court records indicate the Crown has applied for a peace bond for Sgt. Davindar Dalep after allegations that he could hurt an unknown person, or cause damage to their property.

A peace bond is a court order used to prevent someone from committing a crime and requires the person to agree to certain conditions. It is not a criminal charge. The court can order a peace bond even if someone has not been charged or convicted of a crime.

Oak Bay police chief Ray Bernoties said Dalep was immediately placed on administrative duties when the department learned of the allegations.

The allegations are being investigated by Saanich police.

The Oak Bay Police Department also requested an external investigation by the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner. Victoria police are handling that investigation.

Dalep is expected back in court on Dec. 16.
