A North Saanich councillor will seek the mayor’s job in the municipal election. Geoff Orr, who was first elected to council in 2014, announced his candidacy Thursday.
The current mayor, Alica Finall, expects to announce her intentions in the coming days. A retired lawyer, she is in her third term as mayor after first being elected in 2008.

Orr is the retired owner of a software firm. He has a degree in engineering from the University of B.C. and served eight years as president of the North Saanich Residents Association.
The municipal election will be held Saturday, Oct. 20.
