A 78-year-old woman from Nanaimo has died from her injuries after her vehicle was hit by a motorhome near Parksville on Monday.
Oceanside RCMP said the woman was parked on the shoulder of the Alberni Highway near the old train station and attempted a U-turn directly in front of an oncoming recreational vehicle.
Cpl. Jesse Foreman said the driver and her 93-year-old passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle and transported to hospital.
“Sadly, the driver succumbed to her injuries while in hospital,” Foreman said Tuesday.
He said neither speed nor intoxicants were factors in the collision, and charges are not being laid.
