Nanaimo police release photo of suspect car in attack on homeless man

Nanaimo RCMP have released a picture of a car believed to have been used in an attack on a homeless man in Nanaimo who was run over twice and hit with bear spray.

Nanaimo RCMP have released a picture of a car believed to have been used in an attack on a homeless man in Nanaimo who was run over twice and hit with bear spray.

The 45-year-old man remains in hospital in Victoria being treated for multiple injuries, including a fractured pelvis.

Charles Samuel Salter, who is without a home, was pushing a shopping cart when the attack happened about 9:30 p.m. on July 10 near the intersection of Victoria Avenue and 102nd Street.

Salter was left on the street after being sprayed and run over twice, his daughter said. Witnesses stayed with him until emergency help arrived.

Police believe that more than one person was involved and that this was a targeted attack on a homeless person.
