A 41-year-old Nanaimo man will appear in court next month on a charge of sexual assault.
At 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Nanaimo RCMP were called to a home on Nicol Street by a female who said she had been physically and sexually assaulted over two hours.
“The female was in obvious distress and was displaying some bruising,” said Cst. Gary O’Brien of Nanaimo RCMP.
She was taken to hospital for treatment and released several hours later.
A male was arrested at a home on Strickland Street. He was released on a promise to appear in Nanaimo provincial court on Sept. 23.
