A Nanaimo barber is “devastated” and unsure about the future of his shop after several high-end clippers and collectibles were stolen.

Dave Lawrence, owner of That 50’s Barber Shop, found the front door of his Victoria Crescent business open and a cash box missing when he arrived at work Wednesday morning.

Also gone were the clippers and collectibles still in packaging, including a replica GI Joe Adventure Team Missile, two Pulp Fiction action figures and a switchblade comb.

Nanaimo RCMP said the items will be difficult to replace. Police described Lawrence as a community-minded person who leads annual charity drives supporting local youth.

“His shop is very popular and it has been a fixture in the downtown core for several years,” said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien.

Call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 with any information.
