The 65-year-old motorcyclist killed Sunday in an accident in North Saanich was a life-long rider and lover of motorbikes.

Family members said Rod Bradbury, a chemist by training and founder of EcoSafe Natural Products in Saanichton, always lived life to the fullest — whether he was studying karate, where he earned a black belt, or riding motorcycles, which he used on long, international treks and even racing.

Bradbury is survived by a wife and two grown children.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said the accident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Mills Road near the entrance to the Fickle Fig farmers market.

Bradbury’s motorcycle collided with an SUV. The two occupants of the SUV, a 66-year-old North-Saanich woman and a three-year-old child, were both unhurt.

RCMP, B.C. Ambulance, North Saanich Fire, B.C. Coroners Service and Victim Services all attended the accident.

Meanwhile, RCMP investigators investigating Sunday’s collision are looking for a missing witness.

Mounties said the witness approached their officers at the scene but left before a proper interview could be conducted.

The missing witness or anyone else who believes they have helpful information is asked to contact Sidney/North Saanich RCMP at 250-656-3931.
