Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating 50-year-old John Martin Bates, who is wanted on charges of assault and assault with a weapon.
The charges stem from a February incident in which he allegedly struck a female in the face, and from an April incident in which he reportedly broke a bowl over the head of the same female.
She was not injured, and in both cases Bates fled before police arrived.
Bates is described as white, five-foot-six and 150 pounds.
