Campbell River RCMP have arrested a man wanted for several sexual offences in Prince George.

Christopher Lloyd Dixon, 38, has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation. An arrest warrant was issued in September 2019 after Dixon failed to appear for court.

Prince George RCMP say the allegations date to 2017 and involve a female who was under 18.

Const. Maury Tyre, spokesman for the Campbell River RCMP, said the arrest is an example of the role the public and media can play in locating wanted people.

In early July, RCMP released Dixon’s photo and said he was believed to be in the central area of the Island, possibly near Campbell River, Black Creek or Cedar.

“People were aware that Dixon may have been in the community; thanks to media articles, somebody saw him and called police and that led to the police being able to zone in on his whereabouts and apprehend him,” Tyre said.
