He had been ordered by the court to reside at the facility following his release after serving the majority of his sentence for aggravated assault, Nanaimo RCMP said.

Goodale is originally from Nanaimo, and has family and friends there and elsewhere on central Vancouver Island.

He is described as Indigenous, five-foot-11 and 220 pounds, and is believed to currently have a beard. He has several tattoos, including J.J. on his right arm, M.H. and CROWN on his right hand and WEED on his left hand.

Police said Goodale should be considered violent, and ask anyone with any information on his whereabouts to call 250-754-2345.
