A man was airlifted to hospital in Victoria Thursday afternoon with life-threatening injuries after the scooter he was riding collided with a vehicle that was braking at a marked crosswalk in Nanaimo.
The incident happened about 3:20 p.m. on Wall Street, near the Nanaimo Curling Centre.
Police interviews with witnesses and the vehicle driver have led to a preliminary assessment that the scooter rear-ended the vehicle as it was yielding to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
Traffic was redirected in the area as the investigation proceeded.
