A man was arrested near a temporary housing facility Friday morning after he chased two security guards while brandishing a knife.

Two security guards on patrol came upon a man near the multi-unit temporary housing facility in the 3000-block of Blanshard Street just after 10 a.m.

When he was asked to leave, the man instead produced a knife and chased both guards while wielding the weapon.

One of the guards called 911 while being chased by the armed man.

Victoria police patrol officers flooded the area in response, locating the man nearby a short time later. They seized a knife while searching the man.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

The man is being held for court and faces charges related to assault with a weapon and breaches of court-ordered conditions not to possess knives.
