A drug-trafficking investigation by Victoria police led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of about one kilogram of drugs including fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Police said the investigation was looking at local drug traffickers with ties to Lower Mainland crime groups. The arrests were made Monday in a hotel suite on Maple Street, off Cloverdale Avenue, with the assistance of Saanich officers.

A search of the suite turned up the drugs and more than $3,000 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, VicPD said.

The suspects, 40-year-old Vancouver man and a 35-year-old Vancouver man, have been released from custody pending further investigation.
