UPDATE: Jonathan Jones has been found and is safe.
Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a 30-year-old man whose family has not heard from him for more than five weeks.
Jonathan Jones was reported missing by his family on Sunday. Relatives told police it is out of character for Jones not to stay in contact and they are concerned for his well-being.
When last seen, Jones was living in a tent in Bowen Park. He has no fixed address and frequents downtown Nanaimo.
Extensive police patrols have been made in the city, and officers have checked with emergency shelters and outreach teams.
Jones is described as white, five-foot-five and 120 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
