West Shore RCMP say a driver in a crash in Langford on Monday appears to have been impaired by drugs.

They were told about 3:35 p.m. that the driver of a Jetta was swerving all over the road as he headed down the Malahat toward Langford. Police arrived in time to see him collide with a vehicle that was stopped on the off-ramp at Millstream Road.

No injuries were reported.

The sole occupant of the Jetta was a 41-year-old Langford resident who was showing signs of being impaired by drugs, police said. A drug-recognition expert was brought in to help with the investigation, which is continuing.

The car was impounded and the driver has been issued a 24-hour suspension. Police said charges are pending.

“We want to thank the witness for calling police,” said Const. Nancy Saggar. “”If you see dangerous driving behaviour or suspect an impaired driver, call right away.”
