Copper theft leads to railway-crossing malfunction in Port Alberni

Port Alberni RCMP have determined why railway-crossing lights at Johnston Road and Leslie Avenue were in continuous activation mode for a time over the weekend.

Police were alerted to the problem Saturday morning.

It appears that someone stole copper wiring from the device during the night, damaging the controls, police said.
