A child suffered life-threatening injuries during an incident at an indoor swimming pool at a Victoria hotel on Wednesday.
Victoria police officers responded to a report of an injured child at the Hotel Zed on Douglas Street about 6 p.m.
Police and B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics provided medical aid, including CPR, to the child.
The child was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.
Detectives with the Victoria police department’s investigative services division and officers from the forensic identification unit attended the scene in order to conduct a fulsome investigation into the circumstances of this incident, said Const. Cam MacIntyre.
The investigation will continue. However, officers do not believe a criminal act was involved, MacIntyre said.
“Our thoughts are with the child and their family during this difficult time,” he said.
