Bong found in plain view leads to impaired-driving charge

Having a bong between your legs at a roadblock might not be the best course of action. That’s just what Oak Bay police saw at a recent roadblock on Beach Drive, where a 21-year-old came by with one of the devices, commonly used for smoking marijuana.

That’s just what Oak Bay police saw at a recent roadblock on Beach Drive, where a 21-year-old came by with one of the devices, commonly used for smoking marijuana.

He was given a sobriety test for drug use and failed, prompting an arrest for driving impaired.

The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition, as well as a $230 fine for having marijuana in the vehicle and a $276 fine for not having a licence.
