A boil-water advisory for Salt Spring Island’s Highland-Fernwood water service has been issued by the Capital Regional District in consultation with Island Health.
Several roads are affected: Maliview Drive, Fer de Lance Road, Westcott Road, Hedger Road and Walker’s Hook Road. Residents in the impacted area should boil their drinking water until further notice.
Authorities said water quality might have been compromised due to a water system leak and subsequent repairs. The boil-water advisory will continue until flushing and water samples show the water quality does not pose a risk to public health.
An “all clear” notice will be issued when the advisory is over.
