Advance voting begins Tuesday in Victoria’s Dec. 12 byelection.
There are eight days of advance voting between now and Dec. 9 at the Crystal Garden, 713 Douglas St.:
- Tuesday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Wednesday, Dec. 2, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Thursday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Friday, Dec. 4, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 5, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Monday, Dec. 7, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Dec. 8, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Wednesday, Dec. 9, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
An accessible voting machine will be available at the Crystal Garden on all advance voting days and on general voting day on Dec. 12. Curbside voting will also be available for people with accessibility challenges.
Mail-in voting is also available and packages can be requested by filling out an online form on the city’s website or calling 250-361-0571.
To vote, you must be 18 years of age or older on voting day, a Canadian citizen and a resident of Victoria for at least 30 days. Some non-resident property owners are also eligible to vote.
Nine candidates actively campaigning to fill a the council seat vacated by Laurel Collins, who resigned after winning the Victoria riding for the NDP in last year’s federal election.
An all-candidates debate is scheduled for this evening from 7 to 9:30 on Facebook Live and Zoom.
The event is sponsored and organized by the Fernwood, North Park, Burnside Gorge, Vic West, Downtown, Oaklands, South Jubilee and Hillside Quadra neighbourhood associations, and will be hosted by CHEK News anchor Joe Perkins.
