63 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 3 on Vancouver Island

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said Monday there have been 63 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in B.C. since Saturday.

There are now 1,266 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Of those, 783 people are considered to be fully recovered.

One hundred forty people are in hospital, including 72 in intensive care or acute care units. Eleven people on Vancouver Island are in hospital.

There have been 79 cases on Vancouver Island — up three from Saturday. There are 586 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 450 in Fraser Health, 128 in Interior Health and 23 in Northern Health.

One additional death was reported Monday, bringing the total in B.C. to 39. Henry said the person, a man in his 40s, was a known positive case and died in his home.
