A Chilliwack resident’s video compilation of a year in the life of a busy intersection is more insane than you’d expect and has notched more than one million views online in just two weeks.
Rob Iezzi appears to have several security cameras installed on his property, which is located at the crossroads of Williams Street and Reece Avenue in Chilliwack.
On Dec. 27, 2015, Iezzi posted the 12:11-minute compilation, titled “A Look Back At 2015 In Chilliwack BC”, to YouTube.
“Just a montage of videos we have captured here in Chilliwack, B.C. ...,” he writes as the video’s caption.
The video features a number of fender benders and T-bone crashes, including two separate incidents of cars appearing to hit cyclists at full speed, once on July 31 and again on Aug. 5.
On May 19, an apparent act of road rage was captured in which the driver of an oncoming SUV speeds past a red car stopped at the intersection, veers off to the side, and reverses to back into the stopped vehicle. The driver of the red car can be heard yelling profanities after the SUV drives off.
Another clip shows a driver and a passenger exiting a rolling vehicle, running around the car, and trading seats. Still more footage shows drivers with apparent disregard for sidewalks cubs, and others performing burnouts and spins in poor weather.
The intersection also saw plenty of police and criminal activity in 2015, including one instance in which Iezzi himself appears to exchange aggressive words with a trespasser before police arrive to intervene.
Police cruisers can be seen in various clips chasing suspect vehicles and a motorcycle, while police dogs performing searches also appear twice in the video.
On April 12, a teen boy appears to be cornered by four other boys, one of whom pulls the victim down to the ground before kicking him in the head repeatedly.
There’s also a montage of more than a dozen separate incidents in which individuals can be seen walking into Iezzi’s car port to poke around and test car doors before turning away when motion-sensor lights flick on.
On the lighter side of things, a woman was also recorded walking calmly down the street on Aug. 7 while yelling and laughing at no one in particular.
Raccoons can be seen visiting and sniffing all over Iezzi’s property, even stopping for a nap on his front porch. On another date, a pair of deer take a stroll through his front yard.
The video ends with a clip of someone strolling casually through the intersection just before midnight on Sept. 30, before stopping on a corner. Seconds later, a gush of water can be seen flooding the intersection after a fire hydrant is opened.
Iezzi declined an interview with the Province, noting “I’m not sure we can anything else we haven’t already said about these videos.”
