SACKVILLE, N.B. — A faculty strike has hit a second university in New Brunswick.
Faculty at Mount Allison University in Sackville walked off the job at 12:01 a.m. after months of negotiations with the university failed to produce a new contract.
The school says it has suspended classes until further notice, although all other services continue to operate as usual including residences, the dining hall, the student centre, the athletic centre and the library.
The faculty association, which represents 154 full-time and 56-part-time faculty and librarians, says the main issues in the dispute are workloads along with salaries, pensions and benefits.
Meanwhile, the strike by faculty at the University of New Brunswick has entered its third week.
Wages are also a major issue in that dispute.
